How to Identify your Core Values and Create a Life you Love

Getting Clear on the Things That Matter to You

Most people struggle to answer this question. I used to struggle to answer it. And yet, understanding our Values, the things we believe are important to us in all aspects of our lives, is essential to setting our priorities and making decisions about our lives.

Our Values act as guide-rails. When we live aligned to our Values, we feel a sense of ease and direction, a sense of purpose. Decision-making becomes easier when can clearly articulate our Values and bring them to live in every aspect of our lives. It’s taken me some time to uncover my own core Values and articulate them in the right way for me. I like to review them every now and again to make sure they’re still working for me. My Values don’t change much, although the exact word I use to express that feeling has evolved over time. And here they are.Independence — Growth — Impact—Compassion — Authenticity

  • I am know, accept and love myself [habits]

  • I curate beautiful possessions that embody my personality in accordance with my needs and budget [environment]

  • I share myself with others kindly and honestly [relationships]

  • I pursue fulfilling and stimulating work that fuels my personal growth and financial independence [career]

Values are deeply personal. You may have the same words as me, but what that Value means to us would still be different. The important thing is that you can articulate your Values and what they mean to you.

Well, that all sounds great, but how? That’s where my free Values workbook comes in.

I’ve designed these exercises by doing this work myself and with clients. By working through them, you’ll have 3–5 Values that clearly define what’s important to you and have a set of actionable intentions based on your Values so you can bring them to life at home, at work, or in your relationships.

So, make a cup of tea, get comfy, and start uncovering your core Values.
